PowerPoint 2003 Advanced Course

Now that you are comfortable with most - but not all - of PowerPoint’s main features, give yourself that additional edge with our Advanced course in PowerPoint 2003. Learn tools and techniques guaranteed to help you produce better presentations faster - and keep your audience fully engaged and listening to what you have to say.

In this fun class, you’ll be working with graphics and multimedia techniques, as well as productivity boosters like slide masters and collaboration tools.

Working with Templates and Slide Masters

Slide masters and templates are the tools you use to apply consistent, elegant formatting and color themes to your slides. With slide masters, you can make a formatting change and instantly apply it to all your slides - change the text font or type of bullet you’re using, for instance. You’ll learn the art of how to:

  • Quickly set up an effective presentation with the AutoContent Wizard
  • Create striking presentations using Office templates
  • Specify a graphic or text to repeat on every slide, like a logo or a confidentiality note
  • Proficiently create and edit masters for different types of slides, like title slides and body slides

Using Graphics Effectively in Powerpoint

You know the saying, "a picture speaks a thousand words." Now learn how to make your presentations more vivid and memorable with the power of pictures. We’ll show you how to incorporate all kinds of graphics, from high-quality photographs to simple animations. In this part of our advanced PowerPoint training, you’ll get hands-on practice with how to:

  • Find contemporary images through the Microsoft website and other web sources
  • Find and insert the perfect clip art images to illustrate your points

Importing & Linking Excel Data to Powerpoint

Make sure that you use all the data at your fingertips effectively to make your arguments. For instance, you can easily incorporate existing Excel spreadsheet analyses and charts, and we’ll show you how. Our experienced instructors will answer all the questions you have about how to:

  • Reuse data by simply copying it from Excel
  • Integrate dynamic data by linking to or embedding Excel worksheets or charts
  • Spice up your charts with animation effects

Working with Sound & Movies in Powerpoint

After graphics, take it another step further with sound and video clips. For example, you could add music to establish a mood, or a video clip that demonstrates what your slide is talking about - or simply gives your audience a breather! In this section of the PowerPoint advanced training class, we’ll go over how to:

  • Set up video clips to play automatically or at the push of a button
  • Add a voice track to a self-running presentation, for example for a corporate booth display
  • Play sound on specific slides or throughout a presentation
  • Find and import sound effects

Collaborating on a Powerpoint Presentation

Streamline the process of sharing work on a presentation. We will walk you through PowerPoint tools that make the review process easier, like the ability to insert and then consolidate comments or merge reviewed presentations. You’ll learn how to:

  • Send a presentation for online review and to insert your own comments into a presentation
  • View all comments and changes at the same time by combining reviewed presentations
  • Mark a presentation as final when you are finished

Finishing & Distributing your Powerpoint Presentation

Finishing touches! Make sure you know how to choose the best way to distribute your presentation - we’ll explain the options. And we’ll also show you how to add confidence-boosting speaker notes or slide handouts for your audience. Put the last tools in your PowerPoint toolbox by learning how to:

  • Select from different file formats for saving a presentation
  • Save your slideshow as a web presentation
  • Package a presentation for publishing on a CD
  • Ensure a smooth delivery with discreet speaker notes
  • Add value with handouts for the audience
  • Print out your slides, notes, or handouts
