Our Perl Intermediate course targets the two topics that are most confusing to novice Perl programmers: deciphering all the cryptic symbols in Perl and taking advantage of the multitude of available modules for specific tasks.This course makes up the second and third day of the 5-day Perl bootcamp.

Part of this requires a good knowledge of some Perl fundamentals, so we cover some fundamental concepts in Perl and show you how they are manifested in some of the more confusing bits of code you may have seen.

Use the Perl debugger to run Perl scripts line-by-line and track variable values
Assign and retrieve values from lists (arrays)
Assign and retrieve values from hashes (associative arrays)
Iterate through lists and hashes using foreach(), keys() and other functions

Understand when to use the @_, $_, $_[0], and other built-in variables
Define subroutines, and call them with parameters
Perform Input/Output on text files using Perl
Use the namespace and scoping mechanisms of Perl
Successfully use modules that are not in the right folders (e.g., in a shared hosting environment)
Use the more popular modules such as Mail::Sendmail, CGI, and LWP::UserAgent
