PowerPoint Introduction - Sacramento PowerPoint is the most widely used presentation software in the world, ideally suited for the creation of presentations that integrate text, charts, diagrams and clip art. PowerPoint presentations are organized into slides, typically with consistent backgrounds, heading and subheading fonts. PowerPoint also allows for slide show animation, where users can integrate special effects to add motion and sound aligning with bullet points and slide progression. This training course shows attendees how to create and edit slides, format text, create bulleted lists, process spell checks, implement a slide show and work with WordArt, clip art and AutoShapes. This PowerPoint Training is in Sacramento. AcademyX classes are offered with one free retake1. Getting Started This course begins with a brief overview of the PowerPoint user interface, discussing the display screen, task panes, personalized menus and toolbars, as well as the various menu and toolbar options available. Attendees then learn how to access PowerPoint’s comprehensive help features. Learning PowerPoint Basics Administrators can use one of many views to create, modify and display their PowerPoint presentations. Students learn how to change these views, use zoom and slide navigation. They also learn how to save, close and exit presentations. Creating Presentations Attendees learn how to create and design Microsoft PowerPoint presentations from scratch, using a template or guided by PowerPoint’s AutoContent Wizard. Using the slide layout tool, students also learn how to change the layout of each individual page. Students are then guided through easy text addition and modification using the Outline tab. Working with Text in the Slide Pane The most important part of your PowerPoint presentations is its content, and a large portion of this content is text. In this training section, students learn how to manipulate text to create bulleted and numbered lists, use text boxes, change text font and color, indent text and change line spacing. Manipulating Slides and Text MS PowerPoint provides tools to help users edit and remove slides, or add slides from other presentations. Using the Slide Sorter View, students learn how to quickly see all slides in miniature form in order of presentation to more effectively assess and change their chronology or to copy or delete slides. Using the Outline tab, students learn how to add, delete and reorder text or complete slides. The Slide Finder simplifies slide addition from other unopened presentations. This training course shows students how to master each of these tools and quickly create summary slides. Other topics include text copying and moving, collect and paste, and duplicate slide insertion Using Editing Tools Much like MS Word, PowerPoint offers tools to help users edit and maintain text appearance consistency. This training section shows students how to use and customize the AutoCorrect feature to automatically fix common misspellings. Students also learn how to use spell check to review and correct spelling as they type, eliminating the need for post-presentation spell check. Students also learn how to use the style checker to maintain text appearance consistency, ways to find and replace text, and how to use the undo or redo feature. Working with Clip Art PowerPoint users can create presentation slides that include art, photos, sounds, videos and other media files. Attendees learn how to use a placeholder and add clip art with the Clip Organizer or Insert Clip Art task pane. The class then discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Students learn how to move, resize, recolor and modify clip art. They also gain hands-on instruction in photo album creation and modification. Viewing and Printing Presentations Once their presentation is developed, students learn how to present it to an audience using the slide show view. This view hides menus and toolbars for a more professional look. They also learn how to advance slides manually, based on any given time interval, or print slides for handouts in various formats allowing handwritten comments. This course also explores common ways of creating speakers’ notes for each slide, listing important discussion topics, comments or ideas. Prerequisites:
